today

In this photograph I am sitting on the famous Antwerp hands. The city’s name originated from the story of a giant who would force people to pay if they crossed the Scheldt river. If they didn’t, he would cut off their hands and throw them in the river. The hero, Brabo, killed the giant by cutting off his hands and throwing them in the river. Antwerp originates from “hand throwing.”
