Le Havre Beachfront

On my first day in Le Havre, I ventured to the beach area because this was the first port that we traveled to that had a beach in walking distance.  This port has a beach in walking distance because Le Havre is directly located on the English Channel, as opposed traveling up a river or canal to the port, like Saint Petersburg, Hamburg, and Antwerp so far. Therefore, because Le Havre is right on the English Channel, they are capable of having a beach.
Their beach was very unlike any other beach that I have been to. It  was a long walk from the boardwalk to the water. The beach had little boardwalk sections spread apart that led halfway down the beach. The remainder of the beach consisted of very large stones, not pebbles or sand.

Along the boardwalk were many little restaurants that served crepes. There was a very large playground, as well as a skate park. There were also many grassy areas where you could lay down or play soccer. There were also designated boxed-in sand areas to play soccer in or to let your dog roam in. There was a pool a little ways off the boardwalk.
The beach boardwalk was the area in town where all families spent time together. Until going to this beach, I have not seen as many parents spending time with their children. Here, parents rode bikes, roller bladed, ran, played soccer, explored, and ate with their children — this happens everyday here! It was so amazing to see families interact with one another in such a natural setting.
