London Differences

There are several differences between London (England) and the United States. These are just a few that I noticed on more than one occasion:

  • "To Let" means "to rent." So if you want to rent an apartment or a house, you will be"letting it."
  • "Lead" means "leash." Notice the sign in this picture:
  • "Roundabout" is a circle, like a circle on a major highway.
  • You drive on the left side of the road; therefore, you make left turns without crossing the road, as opposed to right turns back in the United States.
  • Their traffic lights signal differently than ours in the United States. They go from green, to yellow, to red, just like ours. However, they turn red and yellow simultaneously a couple seconds before turning green to warn you that it will be turning. (I also noticed this in Russia and Germany so far)
