Blarney Castle

On my second day in Ireland, I traveled to Blarney Castle with my roommate, Alaine. We had the funniest tour guide, Alan. As he drove, he sang, whistled, and made comments about everything; he gave me a great insight on typical Irish behaviors.

When we got to Blarney castle, we had to wait in a very long line to kiss the stone. We waited over an hour and a half to kiss it! We had to climb up over 100 stairs to reach the top of the castle. The stairs got steeper and steeper as your ascended, and the walls even got tighter. We only had a rope to help us climb up.  It was crazy to imagine that people had to climb these stairs to go to the kitchen!

Once we got to the top and it was our turn to kiss the stone, we had to lie on our backs. We had to learn over the edge of the castle and bend our necks down to kiss the small Blarney Stone.
