L.I.F.E. Service Visit

On my final day in Buenos Aires, I went on a service trip to a non-profit organization called L.I.F.E., which is a Spanish acronym. The goal of the organization is to provide a safe environment for the children of the hidden community in Buenos Aires. In the 1970s, Buenos Aires hosted the World Cup. Because the city did not want visitors to see the slums while they visited for the games, this community was blocked from sight with a wall, giving it the name of the hidden community. Around 20,000 people live here, and a majority of them are unemployed. The volunteers at this center  provide activities throughout the week after school lets out to keep the children from roaming the streets. During out visit, we had the children create bracelets, paintings, masks, and letters back to children on our ship. I also played a game of soccer with some of the children, which was fun because we did not speak the same language.
