SAS Auction

Today, December 1st, is the day of the SAS Auction, which is the
longest running fundraising tradition in SAS history. The proceeds of
the auction go to scholarships for future SAS students. The auction has
two parts: there is a silent auction that runs from 12:30-19:00 and a
live auction at 20:00.
The silent auction takes place on deck five and deck six. There are
pieces of paper explaining what the item is, it may or may not be on the
table, and you bid from a starting price. You may bid as much as you
want until the auction is over. There are a lot of great things offered
this year, including: rescue boat rides and tower tour in Del Mar, 1
hour 1-1 yoga instruction, weekend at Derbyshire home in England,
University of Winneba gift bag, bed and breakfast homestay in
Charlottesville and tickets, art pieces from Ghana, Mother Teresa Book
(signed by Demond Tutu), wine in a Table Mountain bottle, Rick's Cafe
t-shirt, SASOPOLY: 50th anniversary edition, Nine West earrings, 2009
Merlot-Shiraz Magnum (1.5 liters), bound book of art images and quotes
signed by SAS Alumnus, personal tour in Beijing, China, NASA envelope,
admirals club access, 1 hour personal training session, make up for the
Alumni Ball, stickers from all 14 countries we visited, Andrew Gray
performance, personal music consultation, sea banners, inflatable globe
signed by Kathy Thorton and Pinky Nelson, John Boyer recording your
voicemail message, Serengetee store credit and stickers, TedX front row
tickets (2), handmade Christmas ornaments, pre-vacation planning and
accompaniement at Disney World, original artwork for Archie comic strip
by Bob Montana, autographed Asdrubal Cabrera photo and vatting practice
experience for 2 (Cleveland Indians), story-telling and supper with
Bunck and Fowler, all natural skin care products by Vital Elements,
Harry's BBQ t-shirt, signed DVD of "Not Since You" by producer Ashley
Epting, juggling lessons with Rachel Darcy, dinner date with Adler, NASA
flight suit (6), knit products, food consultation and tailored cookbook,
sunset paddleboarding and surf lesson in Santa Barbara, California,
massages with chocolate and champagne, raise the SAS flag as we dock,
menu consultation with executive chef for meal, warm and relaxing bubble
bath for one in the Dean Kathy's bathtub, luxurious night under the
stars on deck 8 with cocoa/cookies served (6), 4 reserved front row
seats at the crew talent show, Mexican party with 11 of your friends in
a classroom, and more! Although they usually get around $3,000, we
totaled $9,332!!!
